There are many different professional golf tours that take place around the world, and a few of the most major professional golf tours are: PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, European Tour, Canadian Tour, Pepsi Pro Golf Tour, Tight Lies Adams Pro Tour, Minor League Golf Tour, National Golf Tour, Weekly Challenge Golf Tour, Asian PGA Tour, The Tuesday Tour, Moonlight Golf Tour, The Texas Pro Golf Tour, The Ultimate Game, Carolinas Pro Golf Tour, and the ASGA Tour.

The PGA Tour

Of course one of the most well known and recognized professional golf tours of all is the PGA Tour, a golf tour which almost everyone has heard of, one which is an organization that operates the USAs main professional golf tours, and in particular there are three tours: the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, and the Nationwide Tour. The PGA Tour also conducts an annual Qualifying Tournament that is a six-round tournament held each fall and from which the top 30 finishers, including ties, receive privileges to play on the following year’s PGA Tour.

The Season

There are obviously certain differences from one season to another, but there are some basics that tend to remain the same. For instance, in terms of tournaments, there are 48 events in the 44 week regular season, of which 47 of them are official money events, including in particular four alternative events that are played the same week as a higher status tournament.

There are also several different event categories in the professional golf tours, and in the PGA this includes the Majors, World Golf Championships, Unique, Small Field, Playoff Event, Team, Regular, Invitational, Alternate, and Fall Series.

PGA Tour players, as with most other professional golf tours players, compete for two player of the year awards, and the PGA Tour Player of the Year award which is also known as the Jack Nicklaus Trophy, is administered by the PGA Tour and was introduced in 1990, and the recipient is selected by the tour players by ballot, although the results are not released other than to say who has won.

Then there is also the Rookie of the Year award which was introduced in 1990, and here, players are eligible their first season of the PGA Tour membership and several of the winners in particular had a good deal of international success. Professional golf tours are exciting and a great way for talented golf players to show off their skills and earn deserved success.
